Free Med Spa Org Chart Template

A med spa is unique because it runs a clinical hierarchy and a service-business hierarchy simultaneously. The Medical Director owns the clinical side (injectors, RNs, NPs) under the medical license. The Practice Manager owns the operations side (estheticians, front desk, marketing). Both report to the owner.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a med spa need a medical director?

Most states require a licensed physician to oversee any medical procedure performed in a med spa, including injectables, lasers, and IV therapy. The Medical Director sits at the top of the clinical hierarchy even if they only physically attend a few hours per week.

How is a med spa org chart different from a regular spa?

A regular spa has one operations track. A med spa has two parallel tracks because the clinical side falls under the medical license and the service side does not. The Medical Director cannot supervise estheticians who only do non-medical facials, and the Practice Manager cannot supervise injections.

How many injectors does a typical med spa need?

A profitable med spa runs about one injector per 600 to 800 patient visits per month. Most single-location spas operate with 2 to 4 injectors plus a Lead Injector who also sees the most complex cases.
